Revealing the grim connection between animal mills and pet stores, join the team at the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (HSPCA) as they investigate cases of animal cruelty and prosecute the perpetrators. Animal Planet's ANIMAL COPS: HOUSTON sheds light on the men and women who track down cases of animal cruelty, rescue sick and abused animals, and fight for justice on their behalf. Witness this dedicated team's mission as they expose heartbreaking deception behind animal mills and cease the vicious cycle of animal cruelty when ANIMAL COPS: HOUSTON premieres this month.

ANIMAL COPS: HOUSTON is an observational series that follows the work of the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (HSPCA). The HSPCA receives over 10,000 reports of cruelty or neglect every year and its small team of investigators is dedicated to helping these victims of abuse. Hundreds of thousands of animals are rescued each year from coast to coast and it is the ANIMAL COPS' mission to give hope and create happy endings out of tragic situations. From the initial investigation and rescue, through court cases and medical rehabilitation, to adoption and new, loving homes, ANIMAL COPS: HOUSTON offers a unique insight into the field of animal welfare.

ANIMAL COPS: HOUSTON episode descriptions:

Undercover
In a brand new series of ANIMAL COPS: HOUSTON, animal cruelty investigators join forces with Texas state police officers in an attempt to smash one of the biggest dog-fighting rings in history. Undercover cops have infiltrated the illegal dog fighting operation and they need the help of a team of HSPCA investigators to raid one of the suspects' properties.

Coming Up Daisy
When investigators from the HSPCA respond to a call at a livery stable, they find themselves in a life-or-death battle to save a severely neglected horse. Meanwhile in Harris County, Chief Investigator Charles Jantzen is confronted by close to 50 sick cats and dogs at the house of a suspected hoarder. While the team begins seizing the animals, the medical team back at the shelter prepares for the worst.

Tumour
When a German shepherd is discovered with a giant tumour hanging from his neck, Investigator Robert McCarty faces a huge battle to save him. In court, the team has to win custody of the dog so he can receive the life-saving treatment he needs. Investigator Randy Farmer has to act quickly when he suspects an emaciated horse might be pregnant as without urgent help, the mare and unborn foal will perish.

Flood
Freak weather hits Houston Texas and the team from HSPCA begins a desperate rescue attempt to save a horse that has fallen into a flooded bayou. Tempers flare and emotions run high when Chief Investigator Charles Jantzen realises they might have arrived too late. Later the team is drafted in to save a herd of horses swimming for their lives on a flooded pasture and things take a dramatic turn when a horse is left with potentially fatal wounds.

Breathe
When the Houston SPCA responds to a report concerning a dead puppy in a backyard, they arrive to discover him still alive but hanging on by a thread. It is a dramatic race against time to get the puppy back to the shelter for life saving treatment. Elsewhere Investigator Debbie Michelson has a battle on her hands when she discovers a garage full of neglected pets and things come to a head in a dramatic showdown at the Montgomery County Courthouse.

Cry
The entire team is called into action when four baby goats are rushed into the HSPCA shelter with life-threatening injuries after being attacked by stray dogs. At a stable on the outskirts of Houston, Chief Investigator Charles Jantzen is shocked to discover helpless, emaciated horses. After a dramatic seizure, the horses are taken to the shelter and while the investigators begin building a case against the owners, the vets battle to save the horses' lives.

Trinity
Investigator Shawna Sundberg and Deputy Constable Christine Kendrick respond to a report of an injured dog in Harris County. Events take a shocking turn when they arrive to discover the dog's paw has been almost completely severed. After a race across town, it is up to the vets to save the dog, leaving Sundberg seeking justice for this victim of cruel neglect.
