DISCOVERY TURBO'S PIT CREWS TURNS THE SPOTLIGHT ON THE UNSUNG HEROES OF THE RACETRACK

Jack up a car, change four tires, fill the gas tank, check the oil, wipe the windows and get the car back on the road - all in under 17 seconds. Impossible? Perhaps for the Average Joe, but not if you're a member of a professional racing pit crew. This month, Discovery Turbo takes you inside the world of the PIT CREWS to meet these unsung heroes - the ones who keep a racing machine on the oval, a hydroplane on the water, and a motorcycle on the track.

A pit stop is one of the most exciting - and crucial - segments of any race. With the margin of victory in auto racing measured in tenths and hundreds of seconds, a good pit crew will make the definitive difference in a nail-bitingly close race. The most powerful tool a driver has is his vehicle, but even the fastest machine would not make it to the finish line without the care it gets from the PIT CREWS. Though PIT CREWS get very little credit and hardly ever get the chance to stand on the podium, those who are in the know recognise that these dedicated individuals are an integral part of every victory and are superb athletes in their own right.

From the American Motorcycle Association races and the Offshore Super Series Powerboat Racing to the Montreal Supercross and Stock Car Auto Racing, buckle up as Discovery Turbo takes you into the heart of these incredibly intense, challenging, and adrenaline-driven environments to experience the rush on PIT CREWS.

PIT CREWS episode descriptions:

NASCAR
The NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) is one of the most followed professional sports in the United States. NASCAR follows the Hendricks Motorsport #5 Kellogg's car, driven by Kyle Bush, a 21-year-old up-and-comer. The team enters the race in 5th place at Michigan but exits in a very different position.

AMA
The AMA (American Motorcycle Association) is the most prestigious road race series in North America. Team Honda's impressively fast superbike has had good results this year, ridden by Miguel Duhamel, son of the very successful road racer, Yvon Duhamel. The pit crew is hoping this weekend they will be able to hang on to the momentum, despite surmountable challenges.

OSS
The OSS (Offshore Super Series Powerboat Racing Association) is the most dangerous race in the world, with boats achieving speeds of up to 260 mph. OSS visits North America's boating hot spots, where working conditions are extremely hot and challenging. The pit crew of Reliable Carriers can't miss a beat as an error could easily cost the life of the driver.

Supercross
Ever heard a stadium filled with 60,000 screaming fans? The Montreal Supercross is the biggest show of the series and Supercross riders ride flat out on a demanding circuit of jumps, double jumps, whoops and tabletops. The pit crew of Team Blackfoot Suzuki knows the stakes are high as they battle the tension of maintaining their status as the team to beat.

Champ Car
The beauty of Champ Car is illustrated by the superior team work of its pit crews.  At the Molson Indy in Toronto, the crew that makes it happen for Forsythe Racing is a well-oiled machine. With Paul Tracy driving the car, this pit crew has their hands full, literally and emotionally.

IHRA
In a typical event, the IHRA (International Hot Rod Association) Drag Racing is over in less than 10 seconds and reaches terrifying land speeds. Fans love it as the race begins during the day, and continues until one team is left standing - no matter how long that takes. Team Paton Top Fuel's pit crew forges ahead as they know that a single mistake will not only end the day, but will also endanger the driver's life.

Canadian Superbike National
This is the very last race of the Canadian Superbike National.  The stakes are high, and strategy is everything in the race for the podium.  The Suzuki National team has the one of the most skilled pit crews but battling bad weather is one thing they can't control.
