Biography

Kirsten Gum

As host of Travel Channel’s series Best Places to Find Cash & Treasures, Kirsten Gum has set out to dig, pick, sift and dive for treasures ripe for the taking. On this new adventure, Kirsten is discovering some of the prime treasure-hunting locations around the country where amateurs are welcome to hunt for their very own proverbial “pot of gold.”

Kirsten began her broadcasting career at age 23 as a news reporter in Jefferson City, MO. In a few short years, she was part of an award-winning anchor team in Charlotte, NC. In 2000, she hosted Fox Sports Net’s Totally NASCAR. In 2002, ESPN invited Kirsten to host their Outdoor Block, and her versatility made her a key part of the ESPN team. Most recently, Kirsten was the only woman on OLN’s Tour de France broadcast team.

An Alaska native currently living in Los Angeles, Kirsten enjoys being outdoors and competing in adventure race events. In October 2005, she completed the “Beast of the East,” a 400-mile adventure race in Virginia. Racing on just 10 hours of sleep during the five-day event, Kirsten and her team achieved a second place finish. That result earned her a spot on the Bulleit Bourbon team for Primal Quest®, an expedition adventure race. She and her teammates finished the 450-mile race in the desert and canyons of Moab, Utah in nine days.

Though Kirsten is passionate about adventure sport competition, her hobbies also include travel, snowboarding, kayaking, scuba diving, horseback riding and surfing.
