TRAVEL CHANNEL’S VIEWERS STRIKE IT RICH WITH SEASON TWO OF CASH AND TREASURES
-- With over $200,000 in finds, series is the ultimate how-to guide for the aspiring treasure hunter --
(Silver Spring, MD) – Following a successful first season with finds totaling over $200,000 in value, Travel Channel’s second season of CASH AND TREASURES promises to be as exciting. Premiering December 4 at 9 PM (ET/PT), this series unearths the world’s prime treasure-hunting locations where professionals and amateurs alike are able to search for their very own cache of treasures.
New host Kirsten Gum joins the Travel Channel on its quest to discover treasure hotspots. An Alaska native who enjoys all outdoor activities and competes in adventure sport races, Kirsten was a natural fit for the role. So far, she has discovered something of value in every location she has visited, but even more important than the treasure she has found to date are the insider tips and proven techniques she has collected from local experts to share with viewers. Her research and hands-on learning provides the audience with step-by-step instructions to find their own prosperous opportunities.
These tips and techniques are exactly the information that led to one savvy viewer finding his own 4.21 carat canary diamond at an Arkansas mine featured in the series’ first season. The viewer and his family traveled from Oklahoma to Arkansas after watching the pilot episode of CASH AND TREASURES on Travel Channel and returned from their trip with a gem with an estimated value of $30,000. Encouraging more viewers to attempt successful hunts of their own, season two episodes feature some of Kirsten’s most lucrative finds: an emerald from a North Carolina dig appraised at $1,500; a piece of turquoise from a mine in Nevada worth $2,500; and a tourmaline gemstone found in California with an estimated worth of $12,000.
In season two of CASH AND TREASURES, Kirsten takes viewers all over the country and even explores a few international locations where finds like these are possible. Kirsten travels to New York to dig Herkimer diamonds; Utah and Oklahoma in search of tribolites; California to dive for jade; Arizona in search of fire agate; Alaska to investigate the Yukon gold supply; South Dakota to excavate dinosaur bone; Connecticut to locate colonial artifacts; and Brazil in search of aquamarine. Exploring these and many other destinations, Kirsten uncovers unique gems, precious metals and minerals, relics, and even a type of mushroom that can cost up to $70 per pound.
Additionally, viewers are able to interact with the show online at the CASH AND TREASURES website. Using the site’s GPS technology and the customized Google Earth Treasure Map tool, viewers can locate the specific coordinates from various episodes. Navigating the site with the aid of the “Treasure Map Tool Kit,” viewers learn even more about the locations and how to start a real-life cash and treasure expedition of their own.
