Jarod Miller

Co-Host, PETFINDER

PETFINDER co-host Jarod Miller is a naturalist, zoologist, pet expert and regular guest lecturer for zoos, universities and promotional events, having lectured on captive management and wildlife conservation at various venues including the White House. He is also the former executive director of the Binghamton Zoo in Binghamton, New York. Jarod was the youngest accredited zoo director in the United States at age 25.

Since he was 10, Jarod has both propagated and worked to conserve endangered animal species. He has raised, studied and handled a tremendous variety of wildlife including large cats, bears, prosimians (such as lemurs and bush babies), large and small primates, birds of prey, crocodiles and their related species, venomous snakes and reptiles and large-hoofed animals, among many others. Jarod is also experienced in the research and data collection of captive and wild specimens.

Jarod earned a degree in zoology from Oswego State University in New York and has published and presented research on primate behavior and ecology within the scientific community. Jarod is a professional fellow of the American Zoo Association, an associate member of Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society and a member of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.

In 1996, Jarod started his own wildlife production and education company, Wild Encounters, and has since traveled to over 13 countries, focusing on areas in South America, Central America and Equatorial Africa. Wild Encounters is still in operation today and provides students across the country with an opportunity to learn about the world’s animal habitats, without leaving the classroom.

In the past decade, Jarod has made over 100 appearances on national television as a regular guest on such shows as “The Today Show,” “Good Morning America,” “The Early Show,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “The Rachael Ray Show,” “Live with Regis and Kelly,” “The Tyra Banks Show” as well as many others.

Jarod is currently living in New York, developing educational programs, working toward his graduate degree and continuously making numerous television and public appearances across the country. He feels truly fortunate to live his dream – working with and for animals, meeting interesting people and traveling to some of the most exotic and amazing places around the world.
