Wale and tabi Bonney to Perform at Gala Reception

Silver Spring, Maryland, June 15, 2009—SILVERDOCS presents the US Premiere of Lionsgate’s MORE THAN A GAME directed by Kristopher Belman. A remarkable coming of age story, about friendship and loyalty in the face of great adversity following the incredible rise (and occasional fall) of five talented young basketball players from Akron, Ohio. Led by future NBA superstar LeBron James and coached by Dru Joyce II, a charismatic yet initially inexperienced father of one of the players, the “Fab Five” embark upon an improbable seven-year journey from a decrepit inner-city gym to the doorstep of a national high school championship.

There will be a post-screening discussion with the filmmaker and film subjects, LeBron James, Coach Dru Joyce II, Sian Cotton, Willie McGee, “Little” Dru Joyce III and Romeo Travis. Michele Norris, host of NPR’s All Things Considered will moderate the panel. Also in attendance will be Executive Producers Harvey Mason, Jr. and Maverick Carter, St. Vincent-St. Mary headmaster David Rathz and Athletic Director Andy Jalwan, members of the current basketball team and the Montgomery Blair High School pep band who will perform before the screening. Interscope recording artist Wale and independent artist tabi Bonney will perform at the post-screening gala.
