The London 2012 Aquatics Centre, designed by world-famous Pritzker Prize winning architect Zaha Hadid, with its unique 160 metre, 3000 tonne roof, is considered to be one of the most complex engineering challenges amongst the host of the other amazing constructions for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Acting as the gateway into the Olympic Park, it will be the first thing that visitors to the site will see, on 27th July 2012 when the Games begin. Double Olympic gold medallist James Cracknell examines the build of this incredible venue, right through the careful construction of the structure of the awe-inspiring wave-shaped roof.
