Rebuilding Japan
One year after the devastating Tohoku earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, the six-part series ‘Rebuilding Japan’ returns to the country to see how engineers and scientists are working tirelessly to improve life for the survivors. In the opening episode, Discovery cameras visit the town of Rikuzen Takata, half of which was destroyed by the events of March 11 2011. The mayor of the town, Futoshi Toba, lost his wife that day, but is in no position to mourn. He is now driven by a desire not just to revive the old town, but rebuild it into a city of the future
