Shanghai, the world's most populated city is building the world's largest transport exchange. The Hongqiao Hub is set to shake up Shanghai's aging infrastructure with a transportation revolution: planes, trains and automobiles will all terminate in one massive building. Passengers will be able to switch from one mode of transport to another with ease - that is the theory. The reality is a massive challenge for the designers, architects and engineers, with over one million passengers a day swapping between 7 different modes of transport. The hub must accommodate cars, subways, buses, the world's largest domestic airport and the fastest high speed train in history within a single site. Exchange between vehicles has to be faultless for it to work and the pressure is on to complete everything in time for the Shanghai World Expo.
