Mighty Ships 3

Image 1 / 10

Mighty Ships' returns for a third series, providing exclusive access to some of the world's most extraordinary working ships. The Oasis of the Seas is five times the size of the Titanic, can carry 5,000 passengers and cost $1.4 billion. Every superlative about this monumental vessel demonstrates that it is one of the Mighty Ships. Another of these has a vastly much lower profile, and does not generally transport holidaymakers - the USS Kentucky, one of America's Ohio-Class Ballistic Missile Nuclear powered submarines. What does it take to spend 10 weeks completely submerged, always alert, in one of the deadliest machines on earth? For the very first time a film crew has been allowed aboard this wolf of the seas to accompany her crew on one of their 70 day missions. Also featured are the world's largest pipe-laying ship, largest NGO hospital ship - bringing care to some of the poorest countries on earth - and the largest marine research vessel, the G.O. SARS.
