Discovery Home & Health explores the extremes of the medical world as Shaw Somers aka the Fat Doctor, returns with more genuinely heart-wrenching stories of people battling obesity. This time around, Shaw is joined by his business partner Guy Slater, and between them they perform a number of life-changing medical procedures from fitting gastric bands to carrying out apronectomys. This emotional series follows these larger than life patients from the build up to their surgery, into the operating theatre, and their post surgery recovery and success stories. The series features; Jean-Marie who at 38stone has spent years sitting in a chair watching her family have a life which her huge frame will not allow; Sharon, Pauline and Georgina, three sisters, each weighing around 23stone, and hoping to have gastric bands fitted on the same day; and 17-yearold Stephen who at 28stone and requires gastric bypass surgery to control his excessive weight.
