When Weather Changed History
Premieres Thursdays from 22nd March, 8.00pm
When Weather Changed History is an innovative new series coming to Discovery Science this March, spotlighting the weather that has quite literally changed our world. Each episode tells its story by highlighting the ways in which the power of nature has steered so much of history. Take, for example, the I48 tornadoes that in 24 hours tore across 13 US States and Canada, they destroyed neighbourhoods; taking hundreds of lives and injuring thousands more. This shocking weather catastrophe known as the 'Super Outbreak' gave rise to ground breaking discoveries and new technologies to better foresee and track killer storms and in 1993, two epic and costly floods hit the US heartland and so forced a dramatic change of course in the battle to control the Mississippi river.
