DISCOVERY NETWORKS INTERNATIONAL AND ANIMAL PLANET U.S. UNCOVER KILLER ISLANDS (WT) IN ALL-NEW LANDMARK SERIES

-Wildlife Expert and Adventurer Dave Salmoni Investigates the World's Most Mysterious

And Remote Islands to Unveil Secrets of the Planet's Most Extraordinary Predators-

(Edinburgh, Scotland/Silver Spring, Md.) - Discovery Networks International (DNI) and Animal Planet (US) announce today KILLER ISLANDS (wt), an all-new, original landmark production from the producers of NORTH AMERICA. KILLER ISLANDS (wt) will premiere on Discovery Channel internationally in 224 countries and territories across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America beginning spring 2014, as well as on Animal Planet US the summer of 2014.

Taking a unique approach that blends all the splendor of a natural history documentary series with an incredible investigative twist, this six-part series sees world-renowned wildlife expert Dave Salmoni turn predator-detective as he sets out to solve some of the last big mysteries surrounding the world's most successful natural-born killers.

"This is Discovery at its best: exploring areas unknown and providing unprecedented access to awe-inspiring environments," said Julian Bellamy, Creative Director and Head of Production and Development, DNI. "Dave Salmoni's extraordinary wildlife expertise, captured by world class filmmakers, has produced that rare hybrid of blue chip programming: natural history and adventure set against a spine-tingling mystery - making KILLER ISLANDS (wt) a truly incredible series and must-see programming event."

"In KILLER ISLANDS (wt), we have the unique opportunity to take our audiences along with Dave Salmoni to experience and explore the extraordinary and unknown corners of our planet," said Marjorie Kaplan, Group President, Animal Planet, Science and Velocity.  "We may lead 'civilized' lives, but we want to feel the awe and exhilaration of knowing those wild places exist."

Dave treks to some of the most dangerous islands on the planet to investigate how and why their native inhabitants have been so spectacularly successful at surviving - despite the harshest of conditions. Getting dangerously close to the world's wildest creatures - from the vampire bat and the great hammerhead shark to the killer whale and the grizzly bear - Dave lives alongside them to uncover the secrets of their domination of these strange, confined places, over and above any of the other species that live on them.

Heart-stopping adventure tempered with the eye-watering imagery of our planet's hidden beauty - KILLER ISLANDS (wt) pits Dave among the terrifying unknown. Will Dave manage to escape unscathed as he dares to explore what these KILLER ISLANDS (wt) have in store?

KILLER ISLANDS (wt) is a co-production between DNI and Animal Planet (US) and produced by Silverback Films. KILLER ISLANDS (wt) is commissioned and executive produced by Sarah Davies for DNI, Dawn Sinsel for Animal Planet, and Huw Cordey and Keith Scholey for Silverback Films.
