This December, Discovery Health's primetime programming event, NEW YEAR NEW YOU, returns with unforgettable tales of personal resilience and triumph over adversity.  This year's offering showcases riveting first-person storytelling from individuals who have experienced the unimaginable-from surviving an exploding bomb, to saving a church on the edge of bankruptcy, to overcoming a crippling and misunderstood phobia.  With premieres airing nightly beginning December 6, NEW YEAR NEW YOU promises the real-life drama that viewers have come to expect from Discovery Health, featuring shocking stories of everyday people who defied the odds to thrive and survive in impossible circumstances.

Headlining the week is the world premiere of The Worst Thing That Ever Happened To Me on Monday, December 6, at 9:00 PM (ET/PT).  In this one-hour special, viewers are introduced to three extraordinary individuals who probably shouldn't be alive.  Each has lived to tell the tale of when they nearly met their maker and how they cheated the odds to survive.  Viewers will be introduced to a terrified housewife who survived a murderous home invasion, a Bosnian woman who had her leg amputated with no anesthesia and a remarkable doctor who miraculously the survived car accident that should have killed him.

Salvation of another kind is the topic of another featured NEW YEAR NEW YOU world premiere, HEAVEN HELP HER.  Premiering Tuesday, December 7, at 10:00 PM (ET/PT), the one-hour special follows the statuesque, blonde and very single rocker, Alexandra Conrads, as she tries to find true love in Los Angeles.  However, Alexandra is far from a Hollywood cliché-she also happens to be an Episcopal minister trying to keep her congregation intact by saving her struggling parish from financial ruin.

Left at the Altar - Network Premiere Tuesday, December 7, at 9:00 PM (ET/PT) - When the words "I do" are not in your fiancé's vocabulary, brace yourself for the worst relationship reality check possible.  LEFT AT THE ALTAR profiles real stories of men and women whose loved ones got the ultimate case of cold feet.  Viewers will experience the news firsthand, with actual home video footage of these wedding-day shockers.  Will these stunned spouses-to-be get their happily ever after?

Heaven Help Her - World Premiere Tuesday, December 7, at 10:00 PM (ET/PT) - Los Angeles-based Alexandra Conrads is not your typical minister:  She plays in a heavy metal band, and her looks and language are strictly rock n' roll.  Despite her unorthodox style, Alexandra believes herself to be a devout daughter of God, someone who loves and embraces all members of her congregation.  HEAVEN HELP HER follows the daily life of Alexandra, who is looking for love while trying to save her struggling parish in the City of Angels.

Ton of Love - Network Premiere Wednesday, December 8, at 9:00 PM (ET/PT) - Follow the lives of three morbidly obese couples to witness how weight affects their lives and relationships.  TON OF LOVE gives viewers a chance to see firsthand how obesity can radically affect a marriage.  While one woman is forced to tend to her husband around the clock, other couples try to overcome intimacy issues and deal with a pregnancy jeopardized by obesity.  These are everyday couples testing their love against the weight of some major challenges.

Housebound: Trapped Inside - Network Premiere Thursday, December 9, at 9:00 PM (ET/PT) - HOUSEBOUND: TRAPPED INSIDE reveals the terrifying hidden worlds of two women with severe agoraphobia, or fear of public spaces. Guided by psychiatrist Dr.Ablow, both will confront brutal psychological truths as they struggle to break free from this devastating mental disorder.

My Strange Phobia - World Premiere Friday, December 10, at 9:00 PM (ET/PT) - Four individuals reveal their personal struggles with rare and debilitating phobias that consume their lives.  These people are crippled by the constant terror that their worst nightmare is right around the corner.  With nothing left to lose, they seek help from mental health professionals to free themselves from their fears.  However, the only way to conquer their phobias is to confront the very things that scare them the most.
