Senior Vice President, Digital Media - TV Networks

As Senior Vice President, Digital Media at Discovery Communications, Guhan Selvaretnam oversees the Discovery’s U.S. digital portfolio that complements the company’s linear TV networks. Leading business, operational and strategic functions that digitally extend and enhance programming, Selvaretnam is charged with managing this portfolio’s P&L, creating experiences across all screens that delight audiences and working closely with Discovery’s Advertising Sales team to create innovative, high-value opportunities across the company’s digital properties.    

At Turner Broadcasting, Inc. from April 2007 to June 2011, Selvaretnam led Turner’s internal innovation and incubation group and was responsible for launching and operating new businesses, products and capabilities leveraging Turner brands, including CNN, Cartoon Network, TBS, TNT, Turner Sports and Adult Swim. As part of his position, reporting to Turner’s Vice Chairman, he also offered his expertise to help inform Turner’s TV Everywhere strategy. Previously, Selvaretnam served as Vice President at Reuters Group, where he managed product, marketing and operations for the company’s U.S. digital media business and oversaw the launch and rapid growth of a range of advertising supported and paid products.

Selvaretnam holds a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and an MBA from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is based at Discovery’s office in New York City.
