Adventure Race: New Zealand

An international field of the world's best adventure racers converged in Canterbury, New Zealand on November 13, 2000, for one of the world's oldest and most prestigious adventure races - the Southern Traverse. The 2000 race was renamed the Discovery Channel Adventure Race - A Southern Traverse Partnership and featured 57 four-person teams from around the globe in a week-long, ultimate test of physical, mental and emotional endurance. As the exclusive media sponsor, the Discovery Channel is providing a significant global audience for the race, via a primetime mini-series this June in 149 countries. This special includes a unique "science twist" - a remarkable scientific analysis of adventure racing's effects on the human body, via a team of the world's best racers. The DISCOVERY CHANNEL ADVENTURE RACE: NEW ZEALAND premieres Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24 in Asia.
