NINE NEW VOLUNTEERS JOIN THE COLONY AND TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE OF SURVIVING IN A POST-APOCALYPTIC WORLD
- Brand new season premieres this November on Discovery Channel -

A world devoid of running water, food, communication and authority is unthinkable. Yet nine strangers take up the challenge of rebuilding the world they once knew, on the second season of THE COLONY. Featuring on-going commentary from experts in homeland security, engineering, psychology and the medical community, THE COLONY reveals what the future could look like after a biological disaster. Drawing on their individual expertise and strengths, the colonists must apply themselves in ways they have never had to before, not only for their own survival but that of the group.

A model, a carpenter, auto mechanic, retired contractor, geology professor, foreman, industrial artist, anatomy instructor, and a logging foreman. What does each person bring to the table? More importantly, will they be able to work together to survive? THE COLONY begins with the volunteers facing a 72-hour isolation period to psychologically shift their perspective from our modern world to the end of the world. Shortly after the integration into the colony, the threat of survival becomes imminent as hostile outsiders push them into a physical confrontation. How will the colonists respond and will their newfound skills be enough to protect their supplies and lives?

Filmed on ten acres of abandoned neighbourhood on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, THE COLONY's simulated environment had been left decimated by Hurricane Katrina, a naturally occurring disaster zone that was slated to be bulldozed and turned into a public park. Empty buildings, weedy streets and the backwoods are all the colonists have to work with as they scavenge essentials for survival from their surroundings while fending off threats such as wild animals, disastrous weather, and malicious outsiders.

Follow the nine volunteers in this social experiment as they face very real physical and emotional challenges of a possible post-apocalyptic world, in the following episodes of THE COLONY:

A New Beginning
Seven strangers from all walks of life enter a groundbreaking real life experiment to see if they can survive and rebuild after a simulated viral apocalypse wipes out most of humanity.

After the Fall
To secure their house from a new hostile threat, the colonists try to make an electrical power plant from rotting pig carcasses and an old tractor. And with food running low, Jim and Deville hunt game in the bayou.

Trust
The colonists look toward sustainability, but dwindling resources and the introduction of two outsiders to the experiment upset the balance. Later, the colonists are attacked while scavenging for supplies outside the colony.

To Have and Have Not
While trying to survive after a viral apocalypse, a massive fire forces the colonists to rethink their internal security options and Reno comes up with a creative way to build a huge windmill out of scrap found in the compound.

The Abduction
In a post-apocalyptic world, the colonists' negotiating skills are put the test when one of their own is violently abducted and the ransom note demands their precious resources of medical supplies, fuel, and food in exchange for their missing member.

Skout
The colonists discover their water source has been heavily contaminated and a leadership issue breaks out. Reno comes up with a plan for a cool new ride while Jim and Michel try their hand at gator wrangling.

Tick
A stranger living on the colony's fringes finally reveals himself and offers food and help, but could it be another trap? The colonists also begin work on an escape boat that they can use to search for a better place to live.
