WISH YOU HAD THE PERFECT NOSE? LONGER LEGS? A SLIMMER WAIST?

FOR THOSE WITH EXTREME BODIES, CHANGING THEIR PHYSICAL APPEARANCE COULD MEAN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH

Everyone would like to change something about their physical appearance. But for some, unusual looks are not just cosmetic annoyances, but possible life-threatening conditions. EXTREME BODIES delves into what it's like to live with impairments where even simple activities such as eating and dressing are monumental tasks. See what life is like as half of a Siamese twin, an extremely obese person, a giant, or a dwarf. These unique individuals tell us the problems and joys of being so different from everyone else. EXTREME BODIES premieres every Wednesday at 2200 hrs (10:00 pm SIN/HK), starting March 4. Encores on Thursday at 0100 hrs (1:00 am) and 1500 hrs (3:00 pm); and Sunday at 1300 hrs (1:00 pm).

Most of us don't think twice about daily activities such as walking, shopping or getting on the bus. But imagine having to consult with a sibling before doing anything, from drinking and sleeping to going out and getting married. Imagine being unable to go shopping at the local store without help. Imagine having people constantly stare at you and make comments. EXTREME BODIES reveals the challenges these remarkable people face, and the battles they have overcome to live a normal life.

In the episode Conjoined Twins, see how medical teams battle to save the lives of twins who are born joined at the head. Facing amazing odds, how will their families and the twins themselves cope with the outcome of the surgery?

Super Obese highlights the stresses placed on the bodies of people whose weight is taken to the limits. With obesity becoming a major problem in developed countries, how do people cope with an extreme battle of the bulge?

Giants features the problems facing the world's tallest people. Besides the inconvenience of living in a world designed mainly for shorter people, find out how their height can place undue stresses on their bodies and cause life-threatening conditions.

On the other end of the scale, the episode Dwarfs shows us the inner workings of the world's smallest people. They, too, face physical problems caused by their unusual stature. With the aid of cutting-edge scanning techniques and computer graphics, see how doctors uncover the science hidden within their bodies.

EXTREME BODIES tells the extraordinary stories of some of the most unique people on the planet.
