RIDE THE WAVES WITH TWO AUSTRALIAN SURFING LEGENDS AS THEY PUSH THE LIMITS IN STORM SURFERS

- One-hour special combines weather prediction, science, extreme surfing, and sheer bravery -

Two of Australia's surfing legends have been devoting themselves wholly to tackling the biggest, most nightmarish waves they can find, all in the name of filmmaking. STORM SURFERS follows former world surfing champion Tom Carroll and big wave legend Ross Clarke-Jones as they hunt down the biggest storm fronts in Australia and surf them. The one-hour special also explores the phenomenon of big waves and how they work. Meet the surfers who dare to ride these super waves and hear about how they survive these harsh conditions, including physiological effects such as the tremendous G-force exerted on their bodies. STORM SURFERS premieres Sunday, March 1 at 2100 hrs (9:00 pm), with encores on Monday, March 2 at 000 hrs (12:00 am), 0800 (8:00 am) and 1400 hrs (2:00 pm); Friday, March 6 at 2000 hrs (8:00 pm); and Saturday at 1500 hrs (3:00 pm).

Travelling up to 35 km from the mainland by jet-ski to reach these mammoth waves, Tom and Ross use the skis to "tow-surf" one another on to the waves. Between them, Tom and Ross manage to conquer the infamous Shipsterns Bluff and the mythical never-before-surfed Dangerous Banks off the coast of Tasmania. Using the latest HD camera technology and GPS tracking devices, STORM SURFERS gives viewers a fantastic vantage point - right at the front of the surfboard - as the surfers push the limits of physical endurance in pursuit of the ultimate ride.

Working with the two surfers is meteorologist Ben Matson, from the surf forecasting website swellnet.com.au. Considered one of the best in the business, Ben uses cutting-edge technology to alert Tom and Ross on a daily basis as to the movements of weather systems and swells around the country. On one occasion, Ben detects a fierce low-pressure system forming in the Southern Ocean off Antarctica heading towards Dangerous Banks. With just 48 hours' notice, the team manages to assemble and fly into Tasmania where Ross, Tom and a crew of locals pull off a world's first in treacherous conditions, displaying incredible bravery and skill as they maneuvre among the 8 meter waves at Dangerous Banks.

Audiences who are interested in these surf heroes can also follow Ross and Tom's adventures chasing waves around the globe through micro documentaries, at www.stormsurfers.tv/documentary.
