Snow Blind

Image 1 / 10

The Iditarod is known to be the world's toughest race. More people have successfully climbed Mount Everest than have finished the thousand-mile journey on a dogsled through Alaska's arctic winter. All the men and women who face its dangers and hardships are heroic, but 23-year-old Rachael Scdoris brought her own very special brand of heroism to this epic race. Born legally blind, Rachael shocked the world when, in March 2008, she became the Iditarod's first blind competitor. Documenting this epic adventure of nearly unimaginable proportions, ‘Snowblind' follows Rachael and her hand-reared team of sixteen sled dogs as they embark on the brutal, 1,100-mile trans-Alaska race that has humbled and killed many sighted competitors throughout its dramatic history. Watch as she gambles with her life and cheer on her courage and determination as she battles her way towards the finish line.
