London, 12 June 2015 - TLC, the UK’s fastest growing pay TV entertainment channel for women, has commissioned IF KATIE HOPKINS RULED THE WORLD, a (7x60) prime-time entertainment series that invites celebrities, comedians, experts and a studio audience to take on Britain’s most outspoken personality: Katie Hopkins.

Katie and panelists battle it out to defend or deny the proposed rules in an irreverent and intelligent new studio format devised by IP creators Big Minded, the originators of Celebrity Juice and Mentorn Media, producers of Question Time, Free Speech and The Big Questions.

Katie Hopkins said, “People often tell me that I say the things they think but don’t have the courage to say.  In this new show I’ll be the little voice inside their heads!  Join me, and let's see what would happen If Katie Hopkins Ruled the World.   It could get messy.”

Each episode is presided over by a guest moderator who joins Katie Hopkins and well-known celebrities, comedians and high profile experts who each present and argue the case for a rule on everyday life before the studio audience has the final say and decide whether the rule is passed or thrown out. These rules give a voice to the real issues being debated by people across Britain – from weight, class, money and benefits to family, sex, relationships and education.

Clare Laycock, Head of TLC, UK & Ireland, said: “The show is a unique forum to thrash out the issues being ranted about in pubs, on Twitter and in living rooms across Britain. Views will be questioned, rules will be disputed and opinions will be opposed in what promises to be an exhilarating watch – perfect for TLC.”

The series was commissioned by Sarah Thornton, VP of Production and Development, Factual Entertainment at TLC who said: “Love her or loathe her, everyone has an opinion on Katie Hopkins. Her points of view get us all talking. I’m looking forward to working with Katie, Big Minded and Mentorn Media on what will no doubt be a bold and lively debate where Katie’s claims can finally be challenged in a comedic, cheeky and brilliantly fun format.”

The series will air on TLC in the UK and Ireland in August. Sarah Thornton commissioned the series for Clare Laycock.  Mark Procter is the Executive Producer for TLC, and Creative Director Mark Roberts will oversee the series for Mentorn Media.

TLC is available on Sky 125, Virgin 167, BT TV 323, Talk Talk 323
