NOW TAKING NOMINATIONS FOR THE FOURTH ANNUAL RED, WHITE AND YOU CONTEST!

YOUR HOMETOWN COULD WIN A SPECTACULAR JULY 4 CELEBRATION FROM DESTINATION AMERICA AND USA TODAY

-- Nominate Your Hometown at www.DestinationAmerica.com/FourthOfJuly Between Monday, February 22 and Sunday, April 3 --

(Silver Spring, Md.) – National multi-platform media outlet USA TODAY and Destination America, the only TV network dedicated to all-American entertainment and celebrating people, places, and stories of the U.S., are partnering to bring the fourth annual RED, WHITE AND YOU contest to a deserving American community this Fourth of July. The national competition, which launched today and is running through Sunday, April 3, provides an opportunity for one town to win a spectacular July 4 celebration complete with food, entertainment and, of course, fireworks! The Fourth of July is more than a birthday party for our great nation, but a celebration that defines each American community and a rewarding reminder of the patriotic past-times that unite us all like time-honored BBQ recipes and local traditions. Whether it’s to mark a town anniversary, recognize a group’s accomplishments, or deliver cheer during a difficult time, every town is worthy of a fanfare-filled Fourth of July.

RED, WHITE AND YOU honors towns that embody the American spirit in their own personal, uniquely local ways,” said Jane Latman, general manager of Destination America. “From East Coast to West Coast and north to south, we’ve had the privilege of bringing epic July 4 celebrations to some of the best towns across the country – and this could be the year we come to your hometown!”

“For the fourth year in a row, USA TODAY is teaming up with Destination America to salute the most patriotic cities and towns with a Fourth of July party” said Susan Motiff, VP, General Manager of USA TODAY. “It’s an honor to be a part of something that will unite deserving communities and the only thing on the agenda is to have fun.”

The nomination form for the RED, WHITE AND YOU contest can be found on Destination America’s website. People nationwide have the opportunity to demonstrate, in 150 words or less, why their hometown deserves an over-the-top all-American Fourth of July celebration.  A panel of judges will select one Grand Prize winner to host an unforgettable Independence Day party for their hometown.

Past RED, WHITE AND YOU contests delivered Fourth of July celebrations to:

  • Waveland, Miss., the community considered ground zero of Hurricane Katrina celebrated 10 years of recovery efforts with the town’s first July 4 fireworks in a decade
  • Oroville, Calif., a Gold Rush town recently impacted by drought and economic challenges that restored its tradition of fireworks at the nearby Oroville Dam, the leading water source for the entire state of California
  • Prescott, Ariz., a town recovering from the devastating wildfires that tragically claimed the lives of 19 brave firefighters
  • Hamtramck, Mich., a city that has been hit by hard times but, in true American spirit, is working to make a comeback
  • Union Beach, N.J., a coastal town recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Sandy
  • Fayetteville, N.C., a community that enthusiastically supports its military partners at Fort Bragg.
