SILVER SPRING, MD. - March 4, 2010 - Petfinder.com, the largest online database of adoptable pets with access to over 290,000 pets in its network of more than 13,000 shelters and rescue groups, today announced the availability of a Petfinder.com App on the App Store. Once again transforming the way consumers find adoptable pets, Petfinder.com, in partnership with Iams, provides a way to use iPhone and iPod touch to browse an extensive network of adoptable pets in just a few taps with its new app.

The Petfinder.com app, developed by Phunware, Inc., determines the user's location and allows them to view pets available in their area and nationwide, using criteria such as breed, age, size, species and gender. A clear menu features three categories from which users can select: dogs, cats or others. Other capabilities include: 

• The ability to select pet photos to view in more detail 
• One-tap access from each photo to more pet information and descriptions 
• The option to bookmark "favorite" adoptable pets 
• A notes and comments section for each "favorite" pet 
• Contact information and directions to shelters or rescue areas where pets are located 
• Heartwarming adoption stories known as "happy tails" 

The app also lets users share pet profiles and photos with friends via Facebook, Twitter or e-mail.
