LOS ANGELES – SourceFedNERD, Discovery Communications’ digital destination dedicated to all things nerd, surpassed the prestigious 1 million subscriber mark on YouTube during a 10-hour live stream that featured SourceFed favorites past and present. During the live stream event, veteran NERD host Sam Bashor was notably joined by actress Whitney Moore, who has been named one of Bashor’s newest NERD co-hosts.

Moore, an actress and social media superstar, brings her background in classical theater, writing and improv to the NERD table, having carved out a place for herself in nerd and pop culture media. She joins the team after several years of hosting and writing for numerous websites including Nerdist, NewMediaRockstars and What’s Trending. Her passion for niche and independent media has lent her a unique voice and perspective in both her writing and hosting.

Today, SourceFedNERD is happy to announce that Filup Molina, a writer, host and comedian, will join Bashor and Moore to round out the dynamic trio of hosts that will take SourceFEDNERD to its next chapter. Molina brings a traditional background in English literature, screenwriting, and sketch comedy to his new media endeavors. Molina has directed videos featuring top YouTube talent, which have appeared on Good Morning America, NBC’s Caught On Camera with Nick Cannon, and various television shows around the world. Also, no stranger to traditional media, the comedy feature film New Low, on which Filup was a contributing writer, was an official Sundance Film Festival selection, and distributed widely on Hulu and Netflix.

“We are excited to welcome Whitney and Filup to the SourceFedNERD family, and we suspect our diehard NERD fans will appreciate the unique perspective they bring to the channel,” said Jeremy Azevedo, Head of Discovery Digital Networks LA. “SourceFedNERD has been home to some of the brightest talent that I’ve worked with online, and I know Sam, Filup and Whitney will do a great job building on the incredible NERD legacy we’ve been cultivating these last few years.”

SourceFedNERD entertains and engages fans with coverage of everything from movies and TV shows to videogames, comics and more. NERD will continue to feature explainers, podcasts and more to encourage everyone to get their nerd on.
