Silver Spring, Md. (November 20, 2014) - Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital content and professional development for classrooms nationwide, announced today the addition of several hundred new titles to its flagship Discovery Education Streaming and Discovery Education Streaming Plus services. Further supporting educators as they integrate digital content into instruction, the enhancements include a significant amount of new content in core academic areas for grades K-5.

Available in more than half of all of U.S. schools, Discovery Education Streaming Plus provides teachers and students with a comprehensive digital library of instructional videos, skill builders, writing prompts, multimedia activities, and articles that are aligned to state and national curriculum standards and integrate seamlessly into any curriculum.  More than 350 exclusive titles from Espresso Education, which is now Discovery Education, have been added to Discovery Education Streaming Plus and Discovery Education Streaming Canada covering core subject areas, including math, language arts, social studies, science and health. The video content supports students in grades K-5 and explores topics such as the alphabet, counting strategies, inventors and inventions, media literacy, healthy eating, phonics, handwriting, basic needs of plants and animals, and problem-solving. Also included in the offerings are Global Stories, a weekly news series covering current events which is specifically geared toward a younger audience of grades K-5.

Searchable by keyword, content area and grade level, the rich video and digital assets in Discovery Education Streaming Plus help students build mastery in interpreting, understanding and evaluating information presented in a variety of ways, and provides the tools to teach students how to think critically about what they see and experience in their daily lives.
