SILVER SPRING, Md. (March 11, 2015) - Next week, Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital content and professional development for K-12 classrooms, will launch a new series of professional learning webinars designed to inform district leaders on national education trends with a special focus on the digital transition. Offered at no cost, the thought-provoking series, Inside :30, features some of today's most innovative thought leaders as they discuss educational technologies, pedagogical practices, research, theory, leadership strategies, and other areas that affect today's school systems.

Designed especially for district leaders with limited time, Inside :30 explores important educational topics and provides participants innovative ideas for improving the teaching and learning experience within 30 minutes.

This series commences on March 16 at 2 p.m. ET with a webinar entitled, Increasing Math Achievement at the Secondary Level: What Should Be in Your Professional Development Plan? and features Diane Briars, president of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics; Mary Swack, supervisor of mathematics at Carroll County Public Schools; and Dr. Lynnell Matthews, manager of Math Techbook implementation at Discovery Education. During this session, attendees will learn how to build an effective professional development plan for preparing and supporting teachers and administrators with pedagogical and practical considerations to ensure that students meet today's rigorous math standards.

Additional webinars will follow on a variety of topics, including STEM, professional development and more.  Participants may register at: http://www.discoveryeducation.com/Inside30/.

Hosted by a Discovery Education expert, each webinar will be divided into segments featuring interviews and an interactive Q&A with national thought leaders; updates on Discovery Education's suite of digital resources, an overview of upcoming special events and virtual field trips available to classrooms nationwide; and discussions with district leaders from across the country who share their experiences and recommendations for improving teaching and learning experiences.

"Discovery Education is excited to offer the new Inside :30 webinar series as part of our effort to foster a national conversation about the impact digital content has on transforming teaching and learning," said Scott Kinney, senior vice president, Discovery Education.
