President and Managing Director, Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic and Canada

Enrique R. Martínez is the President and Managing Director of Discovery Networks Latin America/US Hispanic (DLA/USH). Since 2001, he is responsible for the  company-wide commercial and operational units including sales, affiliate relations, cable distribution, production operations, research, marketing, communications and information technology for Discovery's 13 real-world entertainment networks: Discovery Channel, Discovery Kids, Liv, Animal Planet, Discovery Home & Health, Travel & Living Channel (TLC), Discovery Civilization, Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo, Discovery HD Theater, TLC HD, Discovery en Español, Discovery Familia. In addition, Martínez is responsible for overseeing the US Hispanic Networks Group, which is comprised of Discovery en Español and Discovery Familia.

During his tenure at Discovery, Martínez has helped create a diverse and successful portfolio of networks in Latin America, the Iberian Peninsula and the US Hispanic market. His leadership has been instrumental in consolidating the company's flagship network, Discovery Channel, as the leading brand in Latin American factual programming.  He is also credited with turning Discovery Kids into a top source of quality programming for young viewers and Discovery Home & Health in the top lifestyle network channel for women.  Martínez has also transformed Animal Planet into one of Latin America's most popular networks.  Additionally, Martínez ensured the successful launch of Discovery HD Theater and TLC HD, the launch of Discovery Familia in the US Hispanic market and most recently the launch of Liv into the Latin American market.

Thanks to his leadership and direction, DLA/USH's 13 networks are distributed in 36 countries and territories, reaching more than 217 million cumulative subscribers and customized in three languages.

Martínez holds a master's degree in business from the University of Miami and a bachelor's degree in communications from Pepperdine University.  He is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
