– Discovery Channel announced today that veteran television executive Sean Boyle has been named Senior Vice President of Development. In this role, Boyle will help guide the network’s strategic planning, content direction and execute programming strategies through the development process. Boyle will be based in Los Angeles and report to Nancy Daniels, Chief Brand Officer, Discovery & Factual.

“Sean knows what it takes to create successful and truly buzz-worthy programming,” Daniels said. "His experience in growing and broadening an audience, along with his knowledge of Discovery, make him the perfect choice as Discovery continues to build an even greater slate of programs for on-air and multiplatform.”

Boyle previously served as Vice President of Development and Production at History from 2015-2018. During his time at History, Boyle oversaw a wide range of unscripted series and specials. He also created the annual stunt Car Week, which included the highly-successful “Evel Live.”

Prior to joining History, Boyle served as Vice President of Development for Discovery where he was responsible for greenlighting network flagship franchises “Fast N’ Loud” and “Street Outlaws.” Previously, Boyle was Executive Producer and Senior Director of Production and Development at VH1.
