‘TREASURE ISLAND WITH BEAR GRYLLS’ Airs Thursdays at 8 PM ET/PT on Discovery

(LOS ANGELES) – What happens when 12 strangers are marooned on a tropical island with a hidden cash prize up for grabs? Will they work together to increase their chances? Or go at it alone, ditching those perceived as the weakest? TREASURE ISLAND WITH BEAR GRYLLS, airing Thursdays at 8 PM ET/PT on Discovery, follows a group of strangers battling for a hidden treasure under the watchful eye of global adventurer Bear Grylls.

“This radical new twist on the island experience will test whether human nature really is ruled by the quest for financial gain, or whether co-operation and altruism in the face of adversity can bring their own reward,” Grylls said.

But just finding the treasure isn’t the only challenge. If a competitor taps out early, they will leave completely empty-handed. They must survive the elements that Mother Nature throws at them – including scorching temperatures and tropical storms. Each person’s physical and mental conditions will be pushed to their limits, as they leave behind all the modern-day comforts at home.

But what will happen in the end? Will greed corrupt the group? Or will they figure out a way to work as a team? Tune in at 8 PM ET/PT this Thursday, June 18, on Discovery to check out the 2nd episode of this exciting 6-part series where anything can happen.
