Executive Vice President, Scheduling and Acquisitions

 

Scott Garner joined OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network as senior vice president, scheduling and acquisitions in April 2011.  In his position, Mr. Garner is responsible for overseeing strategic planning and scheduling of the channel, along with off-network, first-run and feature acquisitions. Currently, he holds the position of Executive Vice President, Scheduling and Acquisitions at the OWN:Oprah Winfrey Network.

 

Most recently Mr. Garner was senior vice president, planning, scheduling & acquisitions, Lifetime Networks where he was responsible for linear and non-linear program scheduling and acquisitions for Lifetime, Lifetime Real Women, Lifetime VOD services.  Garner also led the Lifetime Movie Network, which saw dynamic growth under his leadership.  While at Lifetime he successfully negotiated and acquired "How I Met Your Mother" and "New Adventures of Old Christine," and helped launch to record ratings "Army Wives," "Drop Dead Diva" and "Project Runway."

 

Prior, Mr. Garner had a long tenure at Disney Channel Worldwide, where he held various positions and moved up the ranks to become senior vice president, programming.  He was involved in the planning, scheduling and stunting of such successful programming including "Hannah Montana" and the original movie franchise "High School Musical" for which he also handled branding and programming globally.  Mr. Garner was responsible for all programming content on Disney Channel, Playhouse Disney, Toon Disney and the action/adventure Jetix block on Toon Disney.

 

Mr. Garner began his career at the Children's Television Workshop and has held positions at Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon/Nick Jr.

 

Mr. Garner participated in the Executive Management Program through CTAM Educational Foundation at Harvard Business School.  He holds a Master of Arts degree in Communications from Columbia University in New York and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and French from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
