Everest Rescue

EVEREST RESCUE follows the multinational search and rescue helicopter teams as they take on the daily responsibility of saving those who are injured on the most dangerous mountain range in the world. Every year hundreds of climbers and Sherpas attempt to scale Everest and for every 10 people who reach the summit, one will die trying. But when it all goes wrong there’s only one shot at survival. The climbers’ fate rests in the hands of an elite band of high altitude pilots. They risk everything to save the lives of those who have risked theirs attempting to reach the top of the world. The pilots of EVEREST RESCUE are put to the ultimate test each day as they battle against the clock to rescue people who are stranded and often injured or suffering from altitude sickness, which can prove fatal. In order to do their jobs they must also tackle constantly changing weather conditions and high altitude, and are balancing a desire to save people and bring them back safely with the practicality of avoiding another incident if things go wrong during the rescue. Filmed exactly one year after the earthquake that devastated the region in 2015, the series captures never-before-seen footage and provides in-depth access to the rescue teams that responded as Everest re-opened to climbers.
