The Ontario 400-series highways are some of the busiest and most unforgiving roads on earth. This is no average commute, with drivers zigzagging the country battered by crosswinds, and forging on through blinding snow squalls. Accidents will happen. And when they inevitably do, it’s time to call for HEAVY RESCUE. Recovery operators enter scenes of utter devastation, facing multi-car pile-ups, injured drivers, and debris flung across the roads. Rival companies each compete to reach the accident first and claim the job as their own. The show puts these unsung heroes in the spotlight, introducing the likes of veteran James and local rising star Sonny as they race in near-zero visibility to the scene. And if their task wasn’t tough enough, they’re under intense pressure from the authorities, expected to keep closures to an absolute minimum, working flat-out as traffic builds behind them and the weather closes mercilessly in. Early episodes will also offer special access to the Ministry of Transport’s bustling command centre, and the men and women who struggle to keep these perilous roads under control.
