AN IDIOT ABROAD is the most elaborate practical-joke-turned-social-experiment in television history.  In the eight-episode series, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant send their simple curmudgeon of a friend, Karl Pilkington, on a journey around the world to see the Seven Wonders.  Stephen wants the experience to broaden his mind, while Ricky wants him to hate every minute of it for his own amusement. Will Karl return enlightened or will he create an international incident?

Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington preview 'An Idiot Abroad'.  Featuring their unique podcast style discussions, they reveal their reasons for sending Karl around the World, discuss his experiences abroad, and tease exclusive clips from the series.

Episode 1 - China, Premieres Saturday, January 22 at 10:00 PM (ET/PT)

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant send reluctant traveler Karl Pilkington on a trip to see the Great Wall of China. En rout, Karl is forced to experience traditional fire massage, learn the ancient art of Kung Fu, and discovers a disturbing fact about his future from a visit to a Chinese fortune teller.

Episode 2 - India, Premieres Saturday, January 29 at 10:00 PM (ET/PT)

On his next journey Ricky and Stephen ship Karl to India to see the Taj Mahal.  Before he can visit the Taj, he must attend the largest religious festival in the world, stay in an Ashram with a living saint, and have cow feces smeared on his head at an Indian bovine sanctuary.

Episode 3 - Jordan, Premieres Saturday, February 5 at 10:00 PM (ET/PT)

The sights and sounds of Petra, Jordan await Karl as he grudgingly jet-sets to this Middle Eastern country. The first item on the itinerary is an unexpected tour of the Holy Land where Karl sees the religious sights of Israel, tours the cities of Palestine, and goes for a dip in the Dead Sea.

Episode 4 - Mexico, Premieres Saturday, February 12 at 10:00 PM (ET/PT)

An unenthused Karl packs his bags for Mexico, as Ricky and Stephen plan the next leg of his trip in Chichen Itza.  Arriving in the middle of the Easter celebrations, Karl witnesses a crucifixion, is summed to do Mexican wrestling, and is taught some much needed cowboy skills.

Episode 5 - Egypt, Premieres Saturday, February 19 at 10:00 PM (ET/PT)

Karl finds himself face-to-face with the Great Pyramids when his cohorts send him to Egypt.  After heavy fog thwarts his first visit to the desert, Karl is required to spend some time with the locals and try the local customs.  He dresses in a traditional Egyptian outfit, experiences Cairo night life, and comes across a restaurant whose staff is all deaf. After he finally sees the Pyramids, Karl befriends a couple who take him into the middle of the pyramids at night to perform a special meditative chant.

Episode 6 - Brazil, Premieres Saturday, February 26 at 10:00 PM (ET/PT)

Ricky and Stephen attempt to bring out the spiritual side of Karl with a visit to Brazil to see Christ the Redeemer.  Upon arrival, he must first take part in the Rio Carnival, immerse himself in Rio's vibrant gay scene, and learn about Brazil's beach culture - where he unwittingly finds himself on a nudist beach.

Episode 7 - Peru , Premieres Saturday, March 5 at 10:00 PM (ET/PT)

A trip to Peru brings Karl to the destination of the final wonder of the world - Machu Picchu.  But before he gets there, he is unexpectedly dropped in the middle of the Amazon and forced to survive in the jungle, mix with a local tribe that might be cannibals, and embark on a grueling hike 8000ft above sea level along the ancient Inca trail.

Episode 8 - Karl Comes Home, Premieres Saturday, March 12 at 10:00 PM (ET/PT)

Karl Pilkington finally returns home after travelling around the world to see the Seven Wonders of the World.  Back in Britain he's quizzed about his travels abroad by his friends Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who want to find out if he's actually learned anything from his experiences.
