Dens, pens and keepers are rigged with special cameras to capture intimate footage of tigers, zebras, rhinos and elephants giving birth. With access to the UK’s most ambitious zoo breeding programs, we see the latest techniques used to bring amazing babies into the world. At animal sanctuaries and farms we witness magical births, precious bonding moments and wobbly first steps. As well as super-cute and awe-inspiring animals, we meet experts in animal maternity and parenting – from the ‘matchmakers’ who pair up potential mates, to those who teach lion cubs table manners. Will it be love at first sight for two young cheetahs? How many vets does it take to scan a slippery sea lion? When things don’t go to plan, the keepers battle to save baby orphans through surgery, adoption and hand rearing.
