Orangutan Diary

Steve Leonard and Michaela Strachan are on a rescue mission to help save some of our closest animal relatives - orangutans. With their forest home disappearing at a terrifying rate, it's estimated that these magnificent animals will be extinct within 10 years. Hope lies with the dedicated few who are doing all they can to save these incredible animals. The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation's single aim is to ensure a wild future for endangered orangutans. More than 450 rescued animals have found a safe home at the Nyaru Menteng Centre in Borneo. Director and former air stewardess, Lone Droscher Nielson, has dedicated the last 13 years of her life to saving these great apes. She and her team work round the clock to care for and educate the orangutans. Their aim is to return as many animals as possible back to the wild. Presenters Michaela and Steve, join staff and animals at the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation for an emotional rollercoaster ride.
