‘Svetlana' is a documentary drama based on the sensational confessions of Svetlana Alliluyeva, daughter of Joseph Stalin, obtained when she was found living in an American retirement home. This fascinating programme explores events that took place from the autumn of 1932, the year of the tragic death of her mother, up to the present day. Born to the family of the sovereign of a great Soviet empire, spending her young years behind the protection of the Kremlin walls, she has come to be an emigrant. Totally dependent on the US government, abandoned by her family and still tortured by the nightmares of her past, the life of Stalin's daughter has proved to be hard and ill-fated.
