New series ‘Sport Science' explores the science and engineering underlying athletic endeavours. Hosted by John Brenkus, the show explores the answers to a raft of scientific questions relating to sport, including reaction times and physical feats of athletes. The first episode in this fascinating thirteen-part series explores the ‘hardest hits' in professional sport - breaking down the impacts of a hockey check, an open field rugby tackle, sumo wrestling and a tooth-rattling NFL tackle. Later episodes explore some of the most dramatic injuries ever suffered in sport and how the gear athletes wear and use can affect their performance. The programme also explores the power of myths in sport and examines whether any of the most famous actually have an impact upon performance. ‘Sport Science' offers a unique look at the science of sport and makes compelling viewing.
