Cake Boss Buddy Valastro visits failing bakeries to revive once healthy businesses. Whether it's creating a new menu or updating the décor, Buddy hopes to transform their fortunes. In the pilot, a family-owned main street bakery in Frankfort, N.Y., is in danger of closing after more than 50 years unless they can update their equipment and implement a new retail plan. The bake shop used to have a variety of cakes and pastries on the menu, but now the majority of any small revenue comes from bread-making- and there isn't much dough in it. The family wants to pass the business down into the 4th generation, but unless the younger employees can match the dedication of their seniors, the future is bleak. Buddy will do all he can to bring business in- but will the elders learn to accept criticism of their produce and working practices?
