Previous Project Runway contestant, Heidi Elnora, is now the star of TLC's brand new show, Bride By Design. The ten-part series sees the fairy godmother of the bridal world create custom gowns for her clientele, making them as unique as the brides themselves. From inspiration and sketching to sequins, fittings and the final dress, viewers can watch the whole bespoke experience from start to finish. There are no ‘off the peg' dresses in this Alabama boutique!
Price is no object for Heidi' s first bride Ashley who is a former Miss Tennessee beauty queen and professional model. Heidi has known and designed for Ashley for three years and she pulls out a special lace, handmade in Monaco, that she bought years ago and has been saving for a perfect use, such as this. As a model, Ashley has worn over a thousand wedding gowns, so Heidi will need to go above and beyond to create the 'rustic chic' dress that will make Ashley feel like a real bride, not just one in the pages of a magazine. Heidi tries a few off-the-rack dresses on Ashley to test the waters. Ultimately she pulls inspiration from both and they sit down to sketch. The resulting design has a v-neckline and full skirt that falls off the hips for beautiful movement; perfect for Ashley, who is getting married in a wheat field and arriving on a horse.
