Tara Montgomery is Executive Producer & Head Content Creator for OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, overseeing all on-air branded content for Oprah Winfrey (prime time interviews, OWN Spotlights, Super Soul, live events), most recently serving as executive producer for CBS' "Adele One Night Only' performance and interview event with Oprah,  which garnered over 10 million viewers. 

In 2019, Oprah’s partnership with Apple launched on Apple TV+, with Montgomery tapped as Executive Producer for the newly branded "Oprah's Book Club" author interviews as well as creating and launching the NAACP Image award-winning series "The Oprah Conversation," featuring powerful conversations with high profile guests including President Barack Obama and actor Elliot Page.

In 2020, Montgomery won two Emmys as she led production on the Netflix special "When They See Us Now" featuring Oprah's interview with the Exonerated 5 and cast of the Emmy award-winning series. 
Montgomery also produced Oprah’s two-night town hall on racism in America, "Where Do We Go From Here?" simulcast across all of Discovery’s networks and platforms reaching over 18 million viewers worldwide. 

In 2021, Montgomery served as Executive Producer for the global television event "Oprah with Harry and Meghan," watched by over 50 million people around the world through CBS.

Montgomery also oversees Oprah’s presence in the podcast space.  She was executive producer for the 8-part Apple Podcast series with Oprah and author Isabel Wilkerson on her book Caste: The Origins Of Our Discontents, which won a 2021 Webby Award. In 2017, she launched Oprah’s podcast, “Super Soul,” which now has over 380MM+ downloads worldwide. "Super Soul" has ranked in the top 20 most downloaded Podcasts each year since launch.

Montgomery served as supervising producer of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” the number one daytime talk show for 25 seasons. When Oprah created a new cable network in 2011, Montgomery became executive vice president of programming, production, and development and launched its highest-rated show, “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” (which included Oprah’s landmark interview with Lance Armstrong). She would go on to become executive producer of "Super Soul Sunday," OWN’s flagship series that has won 3 Emmy Awards.

Prior to joining Harpo, she was an associate producer for “Evening Magazine” at KING TV in Seattle, and a News Intern for ABC News “Nightline” and “Prime Time Live.”

She lives in Chicago with her husband and children.
