Annabelle Gurwitch

Actress and writer Annabelle Gurwitch takes on social issues and gives them her own brand of humor and perspective. Gurwitch's critically acclaimed book, Fired! (Simon and Shuster), was deemed a "merry compendium of failure" by The Washington Post, inspired fired story writing contests across the country, a touring show and a documentary film. Her Fired! film (Showtime Network) garnered her citation in Time Magazine's "10 Ideas That are Changing the World" cover story as the "person to know" for her work on bringing attention to trends in the job market. Gurwitch is a columnist for The Nation covering everything from pop culture to politics, and for the past two years, she has interviewed both scientists and regular folks on environmental issues as part of her humorous commentaries on the NPR's Day to Day. Gurwitch also writes, directs and narrates "My Big Fat Environmental Crises" a webisode series for TheDailyGreen.com. She has hosted numerous TV series, including six seasons on Dinner and a Movie on TBS and series for HBO, SCI-FI, Style ABC and GSN, and she has "hearted" everything from toys to the '70s in VHI's I Love series. Annabelle attended NYU and lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Emmy® Award winning writer Jeff Kahn, and their 10 year-old son in a house lit (dimly) by CFLs.
