Four families have decided to rise to the challenge of a lifetime. Struggling financially and having lost sight of the important things in life, they have left it all behind to try out desert island living. Filmed in Panama, Tanzania, Kiribati and the Cook Islands, each episode follows a different family as they leave their home comforts in the United Kingdom, and set out in search of the secrets to a better life. As soon as they arrive, they have to fend for themselves, building shelters and foraging for food in the wild. As they explore whether there is a better, simpler way to live, they will also discover more about themselves as a family. Finally, find out how much of a life-changing experience it has been when they return, having spent three weeks relying on just each other.
