Surviving Sharks

Image 1 / 10

Les Stroud, Discovery's intrepid global explorer is known for his encounters with dangerous reptiles and creepy crawlies. This time round, Les is going for a larger sort of sea creature - the shark. The host of Survivorman, looks at how best to play it safe in the water and tests popular theories of how to survive shark encounters. This time Les heads out to the Bahamas and to South Africa to test whether the behaviour of Caribbean reef sharks and great white shark changes depending upon the time of day. While in South Africa, Les and marine biologist Jeremiah Sullivan conduct an analysis of the great white's bite, and test whether kicking and splashing attracts sharks. He also shows whether it is safer to stay in a group of tread water alone if stranded in the ocean.
