'TIS THE TLCEASON ON TLC

November 21, 2011

‘TIS THE TLCEASON ON TLC (Los Angeles, CA) - It's that time of year again, so cuddle up with your favorite families because TLC has lots of cheer to keep you warm through the New Year. TLC kicks off its "TLCeason" starting Thanksgiving with all-new holiday specials and Christmas-themed special episodes of fan-favorite series. The season heats up with two shows that take Yuletide very seriously. Extreme Christmas Trees features trees so opulent and quirky that one is sent to the Swedish Art Gallery while another on the Vegas Strip sports over $200,000 worth of carefully collected ornaments. In Invasion of the Christmas Lights: Europe, six families go all out in crafting the most elaborate light displays in Europe, and demonstrate just how much sweat and expertise the displays require. Just as important as the decorations, are the baked goods. Don't miss the DC Cupcakes Christmas Special, where mom decorates the shop for the season and sugar plum fairies Sophie and Katherine build a six-foot tall nutcracker. On a holiday episode of Next Great Baker, The Baker's Challenge tosses down the gauntlet to find out which contestant makes the best holiday dessert in town. The Elimination Challenge? A four-foot-tall Christmas cake for a family gathering. May the best baker win! Of course, the holidays wouldn't be the same without family gatherings, and My Big Fat Gypsy Christmas is wilder than one would expect. The hit summer series returns with a Christmas special which promises to be the most revealing and entertaining Gypsy Wedding yet. Having gained extraordinary access, TLC peels back yet another intriguing layer of traveller culture as the cameras revisit dress-maker Thelma Madine to a small town in Ireland where roaming travellers return each year to celebrate Christmas (along with extravagant weddings and First Communions). This festive episode will catch up with some of the characters from the series and promises to deliver over-the-top parties and of course huge dresses. And what is a celebration without eager kids? In the Toddlers & Tiaras Holiday Special, the holidays come alive at the Southern Celebrity Glitzmas Pageant in New Jersey. Three-year-old Laila and her mom have gone all out with a Rockette routine while scene stealers Riley, 5 and Bob, 6 tear up the stage with their fierce drag queen moves.
