TLC NAMES ALON ORSTEIN VICE PRESIDENT, PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT, EAST COAST

 

TLC has named Discovery Communications veteran Alon Orstein as the Vice President of Production & Development, East Coast. In this position, he is responsible for overseeing editorial and execution on series and specials, while also building relationships with external production partners. Based in the company's Silver Spring, MD headquarters, Alon reports to Howard Lee, SVP, Production & Development.    

 

"Alon has already made great contributions to TLC's success, having nurtured hit series such as 19 KIDS AND COUNTING and HOARDING: BURIED ALIVE in his previous positions," said Lee. "I'm confident he will continue to shape the East Coast team's creative and strategic growth."

 

Prior to coming to TLC, Alon served as an Executive Producer and Director of Development for Discovery Health, Planet Green and Fit TV.  He was responsible for development and production on projects moving through the three networks as well as the supervision of the Silver Spring based production staff.  In his time there, he launched and shepherded a number of successful franchises including:  19 KIDS AND COUNTING, DR. G. MEDICAL EXAMINER, MY STRANGE ADDICTION, MYSTERY DIAGNOSIS, STRANGE SEX, and HOARDING: BURIED ALIVE.

 

Before joining Discovery, Alon served as a Director of Programming at the PBS National Headquarters in Virginia.  During his tenure there, he functioned as a key point person working directly with producers of all the major PBS distributed series and specials across a number of fronts.

 

Alon holds a BFA in Film and Television from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
