Unable to contain his larger than life persona, Bobby Chinn takes to an outdoor studio kitchen in his brand new series BOBBY CHINN COOKS ASIA. Bobby approaches Asian recipes with his signature sassiness, injecting a fusion spin into traditional dishes. Don't miss the enigmatic chef as he reworks traditional recipes much to the amusement (and sometimes, horror) of a discerning public audience. BOBBY CHINN COOKS ASIA premieres every Thursday at 2200hrs (10:00pm SIN/HK), starting August 27. Encores air on Saturday at 1200hrs (12:00pm SIN/HK), Sunday at 0230hrs (2:30am SIN/HK), 1330hrs (1:30pm SIN/HK) and 2300hrs (11:00pm SIN/HK), and Tuesday at 0530hrs (5:30am SIN/HK) and 1630hrs (4:30pm SIN/HK).

Food is a subject which many people have strong feelings about, and Bobby being Bobby, his feelings are stronger than most. Chef, restaurateur and best selling author, Bobby's brand of cutting-edge cuisine focuses on seasonal ingredients that reflects his cross-cultural background. The traveling chef is known for his playful creativity and in BOBBY CHINN COOKS ASIA, he puts the word ‘chef' back in ‘celebrity chef'.

BOBBY CHINN COOKS ASIA is, by and large, a caricature of Bobby's eclectic personality. His passion for living life on his own terms is evident as the high-energy chef reenacts tales from his experiences while keeping the stove alight. With a different theme each episode, Bobby demonstrates how these themes work their way into various Asian cuisines, and explores the historic and cultural factors that have influenced Asian culinary methodology. Join Bobby as he explores the melting pot of cultures that is Asia.

BOBBY CHINN COOKS ASIA episode descriptions:

Episode 1: Hot Bobby kicks off the series on a red hot note as he takes you on a culinary tour that's as diverse as the continent of Asia itself. In this episode, Bobby introduces some of the hottest dishes in Asia, amongst which he prepares Thai Green Curry, Pepper Crab, Madras Chicken Curry, and a spicy tropical fruit soup. Don't say you haven't been warned!

Episode 2: Salads We find Bobby on a beautiful tropical beach where he cooks one of his favourite dishes, Vietnamese crab salad. Then, travel with Bobby to a small family-run Korean restaurant where he investigates the use of pickled vegetables kimchi in his Asian chicken salad with cellophane noodles. With that, it's back to the beach as Bobby whips up a traditional Thai beef salad, before inviting a family of four to sample this classic dish.

Episode 3: Soups Join Bobby by the Singapore River where he kicks off the show with a well-known Szechuan specialty, hot and sour soup. With a penchant for all things Vietnamese, Bobby delivers a tamarind and pineapple fish soup that has tangy and spicy undertones. Back by the Singapore River, Bobby does a Filipino take on the traditional chicken rice soup with ginger, much to the delight of the staff at Indochine restaurant.

Episode 4: Desserts Bobby explores all things sweet as he explains how in Asia, people prefer fresh fruit over pastries and other types of desserts. At the popular East Coast Park, Bobby demonstrates the mango sticky rice as his first dish of the day. After visiting some kueh-making grandmothers, he razzles up a sweet banana and coconut tapioca soup that has been simmered with coconut milk. Finally Bobby joins the Bollywood bandwagon with the carrot halva, a rich and heavy ghee dessert.

Episode 5: Vegetarian With a beautiful gold mosque as his backdrop, Bobby whips up a vegetarian kofta with curried spinach sauce that originated from the Middle East and spread throughout Southern Asia. Next, following a brief exploration of the history of vegetarianism, Bobby dives straight into his second dish, eggplant glazed in miso. For his final dish, Bobby's stir fried tofu with roasted peanuts has both tourists and locals giving him the thumbs up.
