But there exists a fascinating juxtaposition: one of the fastest-developing nations is driven by some of the most easy-going and hospitable hearts. Set against the backdrop of the Hari Raya and Deepavali festivities, The Gateway is an exclusive backstage pass to Malaysia's multicultural social landscape, one that embraces tradition and modernity with endearing charm.

From Langkawi, Denise sets sail on a journey that takes her from the Andaman Sea down the Malacca Straits, through the Johor Straits to the South China Sea. It's a journey with surprising twists into Malaysia's history, as these waters have been the battlegrounds, trade routes and inspiration for literary masterpieces through the centuries. Malaysia's rich history is brought to life in an exciting maritime journey across some of the most enchanting and beautiful seas in the world.

With sweeping aerials, rugged trails and winding rivers, Denise goes on an action-packed adventure through the heart of Borneo's finest natural wonders. Denise encounters the wildlife of Borneo, where the Kinabatangan's banks teem with Proboscis monkeys, elephants and rhinos, before plunging into a white-water rafting expedition. Then Denise delves into a deeper exploration of Borneo's natural gems and has the ultimate diving experience at the legendary Sipadan island.

  • The Cradle
Jamie goes on a journey from the deep forests to the idyllic lakes and coastlines of Malaysia's East Coast to uncover the inspirations behind this bastion of traditional Malay culture. Jamie's adventure takes him through the longest canopy walks over the world's oldest rainforest in Taman Negara, through the mist-cover over Lake Kenyir, to the idyllic coastlines of Marang, Merang and Besut, and finally to the Malay cultural cradle of Kelantan. This is a journey made special by artisans, craftsmen, jungle guides and fishermen, who show how the detail and precision that goes into culture and craft is what secures a lasting identity.
