Animal Planet announced today the greenlight of a second season of I WAS PREY which begins production this month.  The series, produced for Animal Plant by Hit + Run, premiered in July and is the network’s highest rated new Sunday night series among Adults 25-54 since the premier of Lone Star Law (June 2016). The new season of I WAS PREY will premiere in 2018.

I WAS PREY retells true stories of people who were brutally attacked by dangerous predators, fought their way through unimaginable life and death scenarios and lived to share their stories. Using intimate interviews with the survivors themselves, cinematic visuals and high-end sound design, these stories reveal how the serenity of the ocean or the quiet of the wilderness can quickly turn and how a person’s will to survive is key to overcoming the direst situations.

“It’s very exciting as such a young company to have a hit series on our slate, especially with a great partner like Animal Planet," said Rob Shaftel, Founder and Executive Producer for Hit + Run. “We put the storytelling into the hands of the survivors and use unique visuals and sound design to highlight the dramatic and suspenseful moments. It’s cinematic, experiential and ultimately rings scarily true."

“These stories don’t blame or demonize the animals. In fact, the people who survive these extraordinary and terrifying encounters often discover a new level of respect for the animals they’ve encountered,” said Lisa Lucas, executive producer for Animal Planet.

Season one of I WAS PREY is available in its entirety on the Animal Planet Go app that allows viewers to watch full episodes of their favorite Animal Planet shows anytime, anywhere, and features a wide variety of predators, from polar bears to great white sharks. Season two will expand even deeper into the animal kingdom.

I WAS PREY is produced for Animal Planet by Hit + Run where Rob Shaftel and David Bresenham serve as executive producers and Noah Korn is supervising producer. For Animal Planet, Lisa Lucas is executive producer with Patrick Keegan as supervising producer.
